Candidates must currently hold a Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provisioning: Design and maintain automated, hands-off provisioning of physical and virtual hosts, from network boot through a fully configured, compliant system.
  • Configuration management: Define system state as code, enforce it consistently across environments, and eliminate configuration drift.
  • CI/CD: Build and maintain pipelines that test, package and deploy both application and infrastructure code; improve speed and reliability of releases.
  • Workflow automation: Find manual, repetitive operational tasks and replace them with reliable, auditable automation and tooling.
  • Identity and access: Operate centralized identity services — directory, authentication, certificate authority and access policy — including replication, integration and lifecycle management.
  • Containers: Build, secure and run containerized workloads, including image builds, registries and runtime management.
  • Content delivery: Manage internal distribution of software, packages and artifacts — repository mirrors, caching and delivery to hosts across sites.
  • Security and hardening: Apply and maintain hardening baselines, mandatory access controls, host firewalls and least-privilege practices; support audit and compliance requirements.
  • Reliability: Participate in troubleshooting and incident response, lead root-cause analysis, and fix underlying causes rather than symptoms.
  • Collaboration and knowledge sharing: Contribute to architecture and engineering standards, share expertise through pairing and design and code reviews, and write the runbooks and design notes the team relies on.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in systems, infrastructure or DevOps engineering, with a track record of applying DevOps practices: infrastructure as code, version control for everything, peer review, automated testing and continuous delivery.
  • Experience mentoring other engineers and contributing to team-wide technical standards and design decisions.
  • Deep administration experience with enterprise Linux, preferably Red Hat–family distributions.
  • Hands-on experience with automated OS provisioning and installation at scale.
  • Production experience with at least one configuration management tool.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with a mainstream platform.
  • Solid scripting and programming skills in Python, plus shell.
  • Working knowledge of directory services and authentication: LDAP, Kerberos, and PKI/certificate management.
  • Experience building and running containers.
  • Practical Linux security experience: mandatory access control, host firewalls, and hardening to a recognized baseline.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, network and application layers.
  • Clear written communication and a habit of documenting work.
